Dynamic Scheduling in Lithuania: 5 observations

Five observations on the two-days training on dynamic Scheduling: Integrated Project Controls

March 5-6, 2013
Vilnius, Lithuania

On March 5 and 6, I had a company training on dynamic scheduling, talking about baseline scheduling, risk analysis and project control in Vilnius, Lithuania. Below you find my five observations of my nice visit, stay and lectures at Lithuania.

  1. Many people have quite a lot of experience in running projects, but most have not a lot of experience in integrating scheduling, risk and control… so I had a very interested audience.
  2. The most experienced project managers have a critical view on the topics I discussed, are very open minded and often ask the right questions. Questions on which I would have given the answer anyway without the question, but it's always nice when participants guide my lecture towards their needs and wishes.
  3. The managers without project experience are open and willing to learn. References to sources such as the free online PM Knowledge Center or the available books at our bookstore are highly appreciated.
  4. The results of the business game (see our blog) and the final test were very good to excellent. It illustrates their experience and it shows that they have learned a lot. I believe many of the participants are ready to translate the principles they've learned in practice. And oh, by the way, earned schedule was quite popular! Maybe some will join us in December at EVM Europe?
  5. As a way of thanking the participants for the attention, OR-AS has decided to give every participant a free full functional version of ProTrack 3.0, worth € 299 per license, so that means a total value of more than € 5,000.

It was an experience for life! Thank you… and I am certainly coming back.
