Project Management and Operations Research
OR&S at OR 2026 in Germany
Two members of the Operations Research & Scheduling (OR&S) group (Guillaume Vermeire and Yuxuan Song) are currently in Passau, Germany, where they are presenting their research at the International Conference on Operations Research (OR 2026).
Organised by the German Operations Research Society (GOR), OR 2026 brings together researchers and practitioners from around the world to exchange ideas across Operations Research, Management Science, Data Science and Analytics, with a particular focus on new methods and applications for better decision-making. The conference takes place from 1–4 September 2026.
And, as you can see in the picture, Guillaume Vermeire and Yuxuan Song are ready!

Guillaume presents his research on project scheduling with multi-skilled resources and hierarchical skill levels. His work investigates how the size, skills and experience of a workforce influence project performance, and develops specialised solution methods for scheduling projects with complex human-resource constraints.
Yuxuan presents research on tolerance limits for project control using Earned Value Management. The study systematically compares different warning limits for detecting project problems and investigates how their effectiveness depends on factors such as corrective actions, project network structure and resource scarcity.
Two different topics, but both addressing a common OR&S theme: using quantitative methods to make better decisions in complex projects.
Good luck to Guillaume and Yuxuan with their presentations. Enjoy OR 2026!
